Official Football Picks: 11-20-08

One game pick for tonight… I like Miami even though they’re on the road. They average less total yards on offense but score more points than Georgia Tech does. That’s a great indicator. Plus, their run defense is super tough. Considering how much Georgia Tech likes to run the ball, that should be a big factor.

So I’m going for it:
Miami @ Georgia Tech: Miami +3

Official Football Picks: 11/15/08

Alright, here’s three final picks for the weekend… Good luck!

Saturday, November 15th
[NCAA] Purdue @ Iowa: Purdue +17.5
[NCAA] Tulsa @ Houston: Tulsa -4

Sunday, November 16th
[NFL] Arizona @ Seattle: Arizona -3

Official Football Picks: 11/13/08

It’s Thursday already and there’s no shortage of games for tonight. I’m really tempted to make two picks, but I’m trying to pace myself here. For the record, I like the NY Jets +3. But it’s a big night game, and anything could happen. So here’s my official pick…

Thursday, November 13th
[NCAA] Virginia Tech @ Miami: Miami -4

Miami has both a stronger offense and a stronger defense than Virginia Tech. And they consistently put more points on the board. Plus they’re on a four-game winning streak and feeling good. At home? I think they might win this game by 10.

Official Football Pick: 11/12/08

I’m getting a little wild tonight with a game that you surely have no interest in watching. Sorry about that. It’s my first pick of the coming weekend, and it needs to be a good one. Two losing weeks in a row is a real blow to my confidence. Let’s hope for the best…

Wednesday, November 12th
[NCAA] Temple @ Kent State: Kent State +1

Official Football Picks: 11/8/08

Five picks for the coming weekend, ladies and gentlemen! All college games. All home teams. All getting points. Run with it. I’m turning last week’s ship around.

Saturday, November 8th
[NCAA] Wisconsin @ Indiana: Indiana +9.5
[NCAA] Illinois @ Western Michigan: W. Mich +8
[NCAA] Arizona State @ Washington: Wash +14
[NCAA] Hawaii @ New Mexico St: NM St +3
[NCAA] New Mexico @ UNLV: UNLV +3.5

Official Football Picks: 11/1/08

Here are my picks for this week. I don’t normally like to look at epic games like the Texas/Texas Tech and Florida/Georgia games this weekend, but I do like underdogs at home with majority of the money on the other side… so I’m making a few exceptions. Here they are…

Thursday, October 30th
[NCAA] South Florida @ Cincinnati: South Florida -2.5

Saturday, November 1st
[NCAA] Hawaii @ Utah State: Utah State +7
[NCAA] Florida @ Georgia: Georgia +6.5
[NCAA] Nebraska @ Oklahoma: Nebraska +22
[NCAA] Texas @ Texas Tech: Texas Tech +3

Official Football Picks: 10/23/08

Unfortunately, I’m going to be gone again tomorrow… so I’m just posting my five picks for the week without descriptions again. Two of the games are tonight, which is exciting… but three of my picks are away teams, and that scares me. The good news is that they all go against the popular pick. We’ll see how things go…

Thursday, October 23rd
[NCAA] Auburn @ West Virginia: Auburn +3
[NCAA] New Mexico @ Air Force: New Mexico +5

Saturday, October 25th
[NCAA] Louisiana Tech @ Army: Louisiana Tech +2
[NCAA] Northwestern @ Indiana: Indiana +8
[NCAA] Fresno State @ Utah State: Utah State +16.5

Official Football Picks: 10/16/08

I’m leaving town tomorrow, and I’m a little short on time, so I’m just posting my picks — no explanations. Sorry about that. But maybe after last week you’re not that bummed anyway. I’ll try to restore your faith this weekend. Without further ado…

Thursday, October 16th
[NCAA] BYU @ TCU: TCU -2.5

Saturday, October 18th
[NCAA] Virginia Tech @ Boston College: Boston College -3
[NCAA] Pittsburgh @ Navy: Navy +2.5
[NCAA] Marshall @ UAB: UAB +3

Sunday, October 19th
[NFL] Indianapolis @ Green Bay: Green Bay +1

Weekend Recap & Monday Night Football

I had my first losing weekend. That’s a bummer. Especially when four of those games could’ve gone my way. But it’s fine; I’m over it. And I’d still like to make an unofficial pick for tonight’s game…

[NFL] New York Giants @ Cleveland Browns: Every part of me wanted to like the Browns here — they’re the home team, they’re getting points, it’s Monday Night Football, 85% of the money (ATS) is on the Giants… but I can’t do it. The Giants are just too good. The New York Giants have the best offense in the NFL and one of the strongest defenses. The Browns have the WORST offense in the NFL. They average 11.5 points per game! And while their defense is decent, it still pales in comparison to New York’s. I think the Giants win this game by at least 10 points. If I were making a pick for tonight’s game, that’s who I’d take.
New York Giants @ Cleveland Browns: NYG -8.5

Official Football Picks: 10/10/08

UAB is a son of a b. Did you see that game last night?! They were up 20-3 at halftime. 20-3! That was a 35 point lead against the spread! They’d almost have to not score in the second half and let Houston put up 21 points per quarter in order to blow that lead. Ohhhhh wait… that’s exactly what happened. COME ON!!!

Anyway, I have four more picks for the weekend. For what it’s worth…

[NCAA] South Carolina @ Kentucky: Honestly, I think these are pretty evenly matched teams… both on offense and defense. Kentucky probably does more scoring, but it should be a good matchup. But I’ll tell you what… Kentucky is 4-1. And their only loss came last week, on the road, against Alabama — where they lost by 3 (they were getting 15). I think they come home this week and prove to the fans that they really have what it takes. The fact that they’re getting points is icing on the cake. I take Kentucky to win here.
South Carolina @ Kentucky: Kentucky +3

[NCAA] Bowling Green @ Akron: There’s one big red flag for this game… Bowling Green likes to throw the ball… Akron can slow that down. Akron likes to throw the ball… Bowling Green cannot slow that down. That’s what it comes down to for me here. Plus Akron is at home and is yet to win a home game. I feel good about this one.
Bowling Green @ Akron: Akron +1

[NCAA] Boise State @ So Mississippi: Boise State is a tough team; they throw the hell out of the ball, and they score a lot. Which explains why 80% of the money (ATS) is on them. And I like that. What I like even more is that the spread for this game started at -12.5 for Boise State and has come down to -10.5 — despite all of the money on them. It’s crazy logic every time, but it sure makes things interesting. I’m going with the underdog home team here.
Boise State @ So Miss: So Miss +10.5

[NFL] Dallas @ Arizona: I’m hesitant to even pick an NFL game after the past few weeks, but I’m doing it, and I’m taking the Cardinals. I think they’ll be just as successful on offense as Dallas. And I like that they’re an underdog at home. They look good at home. I have a feeling they’ll keep this game close — maybe even pull off an upset. I’m cheering for Arizona all the way.
Dallas @ Arizona: Arizona +5
